We made it to Fairbanks!!! Wow! What a long day of traveling! We left our house at 4:30 am, our flight left GR at 6 am and we finally got to FB at 7pm (AK time), which is 11 pm our time. We slept some on each of the flights, but mostly awake. Wow! We were tired by the time we hit the sack last night!

Our flights were great. We had a 3 hour layover in Chicago, so that was a bit longer than we would have liked. We had breakfast but then what do ya do? We strategically positioned ourselves at an empty gate and watched people walk by. Surprisingly entertaining with the 2 of us, sleep-deprived and giddy!

We also had a 5 hour layover in Anchorage. We did that intentionally, just in case there were any delays but also because we wanted to see a bit of the city. We ended up taking a taxi downtown and eating at the Glacier Brewing Company (or is it "Great Balaska"?) Funny thing - we ran into some friends from Grand Rapids as we were leaving the place - crazy! Then we walked around down near Ship Creek, hoping to see someone reel in a salmon, but no luck. Lots of fisherman there tho!

The flight to FB was less than an hour, but it seemed like it took forever! We were so excited to see Aimee! It is so neat to watch out the window and see so many mountains - so beautiful!!! (Note to self - stay away from those wing seats - the wing gets in the way of seeing everything below.) Then, there was our little girl, waiting for us at the airport! So happy! She drove us around FB, took us to her place (so cute! cozy!) and just as we were really starting to droop from exhaustion (and it was only 8:30 pm - too early for bed), we went to Fred Meyer and also got a tour of downtown FB.

When we finally fell asleep, we slept hard! Aimee let us have her bed while she slept on the floor in the living room - such a sweetie! Now Aimee is off to work, Jim is out for his morning run while I'm just lazing around. I think I'll take a shower, have some breakfast and we'll take a walk to the coffee shop before we take her car out to do some exploring.

I'll post some pictures later. Love to all!
